Returning Your Lease to Mazda 112

When your lease is nearly up, it's time to decide if you'll be buying your lease, extending your lease, trading it in for a new lease, or just turning it in. You have options, and Mazda 112 wants to make your lease return easy.

If you are going to trade in your car and start a new lease, you will need to check your vehicle for any damage, and schedule an on-site inspection. You should take a close look at the interior and exterior of your car (including tires and wheels), and make sure the car is in normal running order. During your review and our inspection, we will all be looking for normal wear and tear, which you are not responsible for, and excessive use and wear, which will require an additional fee. Also note that you may be charged for any leftover payments on your lease if you trade in your car before the lease term is over, and there might be excess mileage charges and additional state fees.

Are There Penalties for Breaking Your Lease?

Car dealerships only make money off of a lease if you make all of your payments through the end of the lease agreement. That's why leasing terms include penalties for breaking a lease.

Should you default on your lease, you might have to do one or more of the following:

• Pay a fee for terminating the lease early
• Make all leftover monthly payments
• Pay additional costs to prepare the vehicle for resale
• Pay the "negative equity" on the vehicle, which is the difference between the lease amount and the present value of your vehicle

Before doing anything, however, look at your leasing contract to find out which of these fees apply.
